Training around an injury

Most people over forty come to us with something. A back that goes twice a year, a shoulder that has never been right since, a knee that objects to stairs.

The usual advice is to rest it, and the usual result is that you get weaker and it happens again.

Where we start

Working with the body you have

We start with movement analysis: what your body will currently do, what it will not, and what is compensating for what. From there we build training that works around the limitation rather than avoiding movement altogether.

Building strength is often part of that, though what is appropriate depends entirely on what is going on and on any clinical advice you have already been given.

Where our job stops

We are coaches, not clinicians. We do not diagnose, and we do not treat medical conditions. If something needs a physiotherapist, an osteopath or a consultant, we will tell you and we would rather you saw one.

What we do is the part that comes after, or alongside: rebuilding capacity so the problem stops recurring.

Alongside your clinician

Working with your clinician

Where you already have a physio or consultant, we are happy to work to their guidance.

Talk it through first

Call and tell us what is going on. If it needs a clinician before it needs a coach, we will say so.
